- Steady site through various Google updates
- Original owner (not the current owner) wrote all content. He was a real expert in the niche with multiple books. See here.
- Included lead-magnet recipe book
- Includes 1,073 articles published
- Site is allowed to continue with AdThrive
- Includes Facebook Page and Pinterest account
- Monetized with AdThrive, which is the most premium ad network
Setbacks:
- 2,742 email list database which has not been emailed to for over 6-months. The email list is “dead”.
Easy wins:
- Perform content audit: with over 1000+ articles, most are not bringing any traffic. The best course of action is to merge, redirect, or delete content.
- Implement AdThrive video ads: this will increase ad revenues and is quick to set up
- Add content: no content has been added since the current owner took over the side in December 2020
- Restart email list: This niche lends itself to growing a lucrative email list. Create a welcome series to share content on the site, and also affiliate products.
- Use Amazon plugin (e.g., AAWP): use proper Amazon plugin with product boxes, comparison tables, call to action buttons. These are missing.
Takeaway
The survival niche is evergreen, always growing, and lucrative. There is a ton of content ideas and shoulder niches one can tap into. Monetization can be done with display ads, affiliate marketing, email marketing, and launching your own digital products.
This website is well-positioned for growth. The site has been around since 2011 with over 1,000 articles.
For easy wins, the site is already monetized with AdThrive so there is no room for improvement to other networks. The new owner should turn on video ads through AdThrive for increased revenues. Furthermore, new content should be added targeting affiliate products.

- Evergreen niche with plenty of growth opportunities
- Combination of educational products with physical products
- Last 12-month traffic is on an uptrend
Setbacks:
- One page gets 21% of traffic over last 12-months. Over last-30 days, it’s 12%. Site has diversified over time so that’s good.
Easy wins:
- Add comparison tables: pages that promote products do not have comparison tables. Adding these will increase CTR immediately resulting in higher revenue.
- Add product boxes: adding a product box that shows the product image, features, and CTA will increase revenues.
- Improve Google EAT: adding author bios to each article, authors to about pages, phone number, address, etc will increase authority. See tactics here.
- Renegotiate commission rates: affiliate programs being in on average $300/mo. The new owner can push to have rates increased. Here are tactics on how to do that.
Takeaway
This is an excellent evergreen niche with plenty of opportunities for growth. The domain is memorable and well-branded allowing for more opportunities for growth. The site is diversified with multiple revenue sources.
For easy wins, many of the top pages that are commercial product-focused are not optimized for CRO; comparison tables and product boxes should be added. A change in site ownership to a new owner provides an opportunity to get acquainted and also ask for a commission increase on all private affiliate deals already set up. With these easy wins, adding at least another $200-$300 to revenue should be doable within 30 days.

Site History:
This site used to be a hub for kayaking and water sports events. They offered memberships and included the latest news around Olympic water sports.

Growth Blueprint
The kayaking niche is lucrative. Products are high-priced (above $1,000) thus the commissions are higher than your other traditional niches. The only challenge in this niche is the seasonality.
This is what I would do:
- Add informational content around the best places to kayak around the U.S.
- Add content on how to kayak, tips & tricks, etc.
- Add commercial content on the best products
This niche would not lend itself to a lucrative email list or selling of your own digital products. Monetization can be done with display ads to begin with, and then affiliate products via Amazon Associates, and sporting goods retailers.
Blueprint #4: MyPerkyPet.com
Website Summary
Type: Existing Content Site
Niche: Pets
Source: Flippa (see here)
Revenue: $151/mo via Amazon Affiliate and Google Adsense (as listed on Flippa without a P&L; make sure to verify)

Due Diligence
Highlights
- Diversified traffic to many different pages
- Lower competition topics in Pet niche (compared to dog/cat articles)
- Well-designed site
- New e-book added that is being marketed at $9.99
Setbacks
- The website lacks Google EAT
- The new owner installed two Google Analytics tracking IDs thus leading to double counting of pageviews from January 2021 onwards
Easy Wins
- Immediately switch to Ezoic from Google Adsense. This will immediately add at least $250-$300 per month to revenue with minimal impact to affiliate commissions.
- Product images in Comparison Tables are not linked to Amazon. This easy fix will lead to increased revenue.
- Remove Featured Image and social media share links on all articles. These are distractions.
- Add affiliate links within the content
- Test Chewy affiliate program for further revenue
- Improve the landing page, copy, and checkout process for the e-book
Takeaway
As stated, the site has been relisted by the current owner. They acquired it in January 2021. Since then, they added an e-book, and implemented Google Adsense. There are still many of the easy wins left.
The Flippa listing is missing a detailed P&L and month-by-month earnings screenshots. Make sure to ask for those from the seller.
Overall, I like niche topics that are evergreen like this one. Partner this with the quality backlink profile and content, it’s a good purchase.
