Welcome to Week 12! Today’s Authority Business Blueprints will feature websites from Flippa, and domains from Niche Website Builders and ODYS.
Don’t forget to check out my selection of “Other Quality Sites” and the “Too Good To Be True Sites” at the end where I review a few of the sites on Motion Invest’s platform.
Let’s get into the growth blueprints!
Blueprint #1: OrangerieEvents.com
Type: Aged Domain
Source: Niche Website Builders
Age: 2009 (12 years)
This is a package deal for the domain, site build, and content:
- Domain: $1,650
- Site Build + 100K words of content: $6,495
- Total: $8,145
Backlinks: The domain has some strong high authority backlinks which include Martha Stewart, NCSU, Galmour, among others.
The first website on this domain was built in 2009. It was a wedding planning business based out of North Carolina. This is a snapshot of the past site:
I would turn this domain into a wedding planning informational site and also bridal/wedding gifts. There is a DR 3 site that receives at least 25K pageviews that started one year ago: wayfaringweddings.com. This will be easy to beat.
The best way to monetize would be through Amazon Associates, affiliate programs on ShareASale, and Ezoic initially and then Mediavine once traffic hits 50K pageviews.
Blueprint #2: WeCoffeeCompany.com
Type: Aged Domain
Age: 2013 (8 years old)
Listed Price: $2,920
Backlinks: Quality backlinks from AirBNB, Apartment Therapy, Chron, Bean Hunter, and may local sites for the San Antonion, TX market.
This site was owned by White Elephant Coffee Company located in San Antonio, Texas. The site listed their menu, directions, and sold their Ethiopian coffee beans online and at wholesale with private labeling options.
Here is a snapshot of the past site:
While typically I like to stay away from most food/kitchen type niches due to low payouts in general, the coffee niche is a major exception. Coffee drinkers are willing to spend money for that perfect brew. There are many methods to monetize a coffee niche site.
There are also many sub-niches. For example, coffee brewing, grinders, beans, roasters, makers, and mugs in terms of products. Then there is coffee lessons to teach you how to brew, and also coffee gifts (many subscription based) to give to others. The possibilities are endless.
Here is what I would do:
- Write informative articles on how to brew coffee, how to grind, tools needed, best coffee shops in each city, etc
- Write individual and comparison coffee machine reviews
- Write buying guides
- Write reviews on coffee subscription services
Basic monetization can be done with Amazon Associates and display ads like Ezoic or Mediavine. However, I recommend promoting direct e-commerce brands which you can find using ShareASale and Commission Junction.
Blueprint #3: YellowZebraSports.com
Type: Content Site
Source: Flippa (see listing)
Revenue: $82/mo via Ezoic, Amazon Associates and Envato’s Affiliate program
- In a growing niche of e-sports
- Ranking for 4,200 keywords with a DR of 9
- Notable backlink from Wikipedia and one EDU link
- 50% of traffic is to one page
- A significant dip in traffic on January 2021
- Envato earnings came from one article discussing how to develop an e-sports website. The rankings for this keyword is down in recent months.
Here are the easy wins:
- Implement a sticky widget Ezoic ad on the sidebar for higher RPMs
- Add AAWP Amazon product boxes in information articles for higher CTR
- Package up existing content on the site and sell an e-book on the website
- Perform on-page SEO for existing content. Content is not SEO optimized
I am covering this website due to the niche; It’s unique and growing. The industry of e-sports is growing rapidly according to this Trends.co report. I haven’t come across a site for sale in this niche yet.
The site itself needs work. The site was impacted by a Google update in January 2021 taking the traffic from 500 to 250 visitors per day on average. This will have an impact on earnings.
With the traffic drop, this equates to 7,500 pageviews per month. At a $10 RPM on Ezoic, that equates to around $75 per month average. The other affiliate earnings are neglibile on this site.
If you are looking to enter this niche, I would pay no more than $2,250 given the effort it would take to fix up the site and get it optimized.
Not an amazing site to add to your portfolio, but one to consider if you like the niche.
🔥 Other Quality Sites
BestBeginnerGuitarToday.com: This site is for sale on Motion Invest and is aged at almost 6 years old. The site has a good mix of informational and commercial content. The traffic is diversified across many pages. For easy wins, the product images on buying guide articles are not linked to Amazon. The call-to-action buttons can be a more drastic color (e.g., red) to grab attention and increase CTR. Another easy win is to add Ezoic display ads to the site which would increase earnings by $100/mo at the least. The major cons to this site are the non-branded domain with the word “best” in it, and the multiple at 43x. At that multiple, the upside is limited.
🙅♂️ “Too Good To Be True” Sites
Momhaul.com: Another site that’s listed on Motion Invest. The site is only 1 year and 4 months old and the last 3-month (L3M) is being used to value the site at an unheard of 45x multiple. With that said, the site has 10 clear PBNs (which are included). There are many red flags with this one. Buyer beware!
OralDentalCare.org: Also listed on Motion Invest. The site listed at a 40x multiple. The site has taken a drastic cut in traffic from the December google update. Even with that, a 6-month average is being used which I disagree with. Buyer beware!
These blueprints lay-out the high-level strategies to accelerate your ROI after the acquisition. Of course, the real effort is putting all of this into practice.
Make sure to review the “Too Good To Be True” and “Other Quality Site” sections. Doing as much due diligence as possible will ensure you hone your skillsets in finding good deals and opportunities in the future.
