Welcome to Week 15! Today’s Authority Business Blueprints will feature websites from The Website Flip brokerage and Flippa, and domains from ODYS.global. One of the distressed assets from last week has been reduced from 25x to 22x multiple for a quick sale; see below.
Don’t forget to check out my selection of “Other Quality Sites”, “Too Good To Be True Sites”, and “Distressed Assets” at the end.
Let’s get into the growth blueprints!
Off-Market Deal #1: GamerAssaultWeekly.com
Type: Existing content site on an aged domain
Age: 2017 (4 years old)
Listed Price: $4,500
Backlinks: This website has notable backlinks from Wikipedia, Kickstarter, VentureBeat, Unity, and many gaming niche relevant websites.
This website was rebuilt as-is. It was originally a blog discussing video games. It had a podcast, content, news, editorials, and more.
Here is a snapshot of the past site:
- Brandable niche relevant domain
- AHREFs DR 24
- Ranking for 828 keywords; ~160 keywords on the first page
- Traffic increase month over month; currently at 951 pageviews last 30 days
- 70,000 words of existing content; 10 new articles added, and rest rebuilt
- 720 referring domain backlinks
- Seller bought the domain from Godaddy auctions for $4,494.20 on 09/26/2020
If you are looking for a niche relevant aged domain that is growing and needs more content, this would be a great site to acquire. It’s easy to hire content writers in this niche and monetization options are plentiful (e.g., Amazon Associates, Newegg, display ads).
The price is set at $4,500. The valuation breakdown based on the non-revenue valuation calculator here is as follows:
- Number of articles: 70
- Total word count: 70,000
- Domain age: 4 years
- Backlinks: 10+ quality DR0-DR20 links, 10 DR20-DR30, 6 DR50+ links
The calculation for this is as follows:
- Content cost: $1,400
- Content format cost: $210
- Domain cost: $40
- Backlinks: $2,750
- Site buildout: $300
The total minimum valuation comes out to roughly $4,700. Note that the valuation did not consider ALL referring domains; only the high-quality links.
The seller is thus listing the website for $4,500. If interested, please fill out the form.
Blueprint #2: MakeITSecure.org
Type: Aged Domain
Niche: Information Technology
Age: 2005 (16 years old)
Listed Price: $2,980
Backlinks: This domain has notable backlinks from the SANS Organization, Orange Group Magazine, Gov.ie, Local Enterprise Office, Hexus, and more.
Make IT Secure was a website dedicated to educating families, young users, businesses, and general users on the IT-related activities they engage in and the risks involved.
Here is a snapshot of the past site:
Internet security and privacy is a competitive yet lucrative niche. This site would make for an excellent authority site.
Here is what I would do:
- Write detailed how-to/tutorials on how to secure your computer and devices from viruses, third-parties, etc.
- Write product reviews of different security software
Monetization can be done via software sale commissions. For example, McAfee, Norton, and other such antivirus software. Here is an example of cost per sale (CPS) payouts on PerformCB (formerly Clickbooth’s) platform.
Note that the competition in this niche for mainstream keywords is high. You have to niche down to very long-tails and ensure your content is top-notch with hands-on software reviews.
Blueprint #3: BloomShower.com
Type: Content Site
Source: Flippa (see listing here)
Revenue: $106/mo via Amazon Associates (US, CA, UK)
- High-growth niche
- Ranking for various individual reviews and buying guide content
- Multiple revenue streams available in this niche
- The current price is at a 40X multiple, with the buy it now at a 48X multiple
- Very low-quality content; major edits needed.
- Mediocre backlinks with most being blog comments
- Monetization with display ads (e.g., Ezoic) may not be possible due to niche
Here are the easy wins:
- Add product comparison tables to buying guides
- Add more clear call-to-action buttons. The ones being used now are too small.
- Add a sticky widget with a high-paying offer
- Update title tags to the year 2021 from 2020
This niche has been growing for several years now and will continue to grow. I sold a site for $25,000 about 2-years ago on Flippa in this niche and I regret it; it’s still growing.
This specific website needs effort though. The content is poor quality and the backlinks are nothing special. The listed buy it now is at $6,000 with the current price at $5,000.
At $106/mo according to the P&L, I value the site at 32-35x multiple. This equates from $3,392 to a max of $3,710 at its current level without easy win optimizations.
🔥 Other Quality Sites
ProjectorFinder.com: A 1.5-year-old DR6 site in the projector niche monetized by Amazon Associates. The site has an OK (not great) mix of informational vs commercial content across 62 articles. The site went “under the radar” during the December Google core update due to being a young site. The new owner should diversify content types, backlinks, and monetization strategy. The cons of this are that the technology niche has low commissions and requires constant updates to content as new products get released. An OK site; nothing crazy but worth a look.
🙅♂️ “Too Good To Be True” Sites
SolarPowerNerd.com: This site was listed on Flippa and the auction has already ended. A site that was significantly impacted by the December Core update but somehow still was able to get bids up to $6,000 (most likely newcomers). At a glance, the site is riddled with low-value buying guides; no info content. That does not work in 2021. Buyer beware!
🔥 Distressed Sites
SecretStorages.com (covered in last week’s blueprints): This site is owned by a newsletter subscriber. This site needs some time and care as it has been on a downtrend. The site at one point was earning $3,000/mo. However, the L6M average is $806 (we’ve discounted guest post income by 50%). The price has been reduced since last week. It is being listed for sale at a 22X multiple thus $17,732. Check out the P&L here, and if interested in learning more, fill out the form here.
That’s it for this week. If you are interested in acquiring any sites we are brokering, please fill out the form here.
These blueprints lay-out the high-level strategies to accelerate your ROI after the acquisition. Of course, the real effort is putting all of this into practice.
