We purchased an aged DR 51 domain in April 2020. The domain was a WordPress plugin. The goal is to build an authority website in the WordPress niche discussing themes, plugins, tips, and how-tos.

Update: This site was sold in December 2020 to a private buyer through our newsletter. we sold due to a few reasons: (1) we had other projects that needed our time, and (2) growth in this niche would take longer and with other opportunities, it did not make sense to continue investing.
As an experiment, in March 2020, we acquired an aged expired domain for $4,000. The domain has an AHREFs domain rating of 57 with backlinks from Stack Overflow, Theme Forest, Elegant Themes, Search Engine Journal, among others. The goal is to build-up an authority website discussing all things Wordpress. The website is still in growth mode with minimal revenue.
